Located just off the Gulf Stream and with miles of coast line, Abaco is a beach comber’s paradise. Shells, sea glass and other wonders are scattered across the beaches and rocky shorelines, just waiting to be discovered. Please ensure you are abiding by your home nation’s customs regulations before attempting to take these gems back, and please pick in moderation so that others may enjoy the same experience.
For those wishing to explore the water from just below the surface, there are numerous reefs accessible from land which provide just as much to see as you would on a dive excursion. SeaSpray offers gear rentals and our knowledgeable staff will be happy to provide suggestions as to where the best snorkeling spots are. For a more comprehensive snorkeling experience, rent a boat or sign up for one of the daily guided tours offered by local dive operators who also cater to snorkelers.
Stand Up Paddle Boarding
Gliding silently across crystal clear waters, surrounded by sting rays, turtles and all manner of wildlife is just one way to experience Stand Up Paddle Boarding. If you’re up for an adrenaline rush, try tackling the surf on Garbonzo Reef. Get your morning workout by paddling from Tahiti Beach to Lubbers Quarters, or take it out on the boat for a day of fun exploring coves and inlets. Regardless of how you plan to enjoy them, SeaSpray has a fleet of high performance SUPs and accessories ready to launch from our marina or for you to pick up and take with you on your Abaco adventures.
Kayaking / canoeing
With hidden coves, miles of coast and an abundance of wildlife, paddling is an incredible way to experience all the natural beauty Abaco has to offer. Local guides are available for half and full day excursions, or simply rent a kayak or canoe and set off on your self-created expedition.
Abaco is a unique fishing paradise for anglers. Whether puttering around our many bays and coves for a casual afternoon in search of a bite, or setting out for a day of hardcore deep water Sailfishing, SeaSpray has everything to offer within a 10 minute run from our Marina. Local charter operations are available for half day and full day adventures.
Known worldwide for its incredible bonefishing, Abaco offers some of the best opportunities in the world to cast your fly. Numerous bonefishing guides are located within a few minutes ride from SeaSpray and are eager to give you an experience to remember.
Abaco’s chain of islands offer incredible opportunities to visit multiple islands in a single day. Whether renting a boat yourself or chartering a captain / guide to help you explore, Lubbers Quarters, Tilloo, Man-O-War and Green Turtle are all within reach from our Marina located on the southern end of Elbow Cay.
With incredible reefs, copious species of fish, mysterious wrecks and multiple blue holes, Abaco is an incredible destination for Scuba Divers of all skills levels. There are a number of dive operators in Abaco who are happy to certify you, organize a custom diving trip on your behalf, or fill your tanks and give you site tips before heading off on your self-directed adventure.
Four of the six Bahamian endemics, the Bahama Woodstar, the Bahama Swallow, the Bahama Yellowthroat and the Bahama Warbler can be found in Abaco. Other than San Salvador, Abaco is the only part of the Bahamas where the West Indian Woodpecker makes its home. There are two populations of Cuban Parrots, Bahama race, found only on Abaco and Great Inagua. Other birds include the White-cheeked Pintail, the Zenaida Dove, the Key West Quail Dove, the Cuban Emerald, the Cuban Pewee, the La Sagra’s Flycatcher, the Loggerhead Kingbird, the Bahama Mockingbird, the Red-legged Thrush, the Thick-billed Vireo, the Olive-capped Warbler, the Bananaquit, the Western Spindalis, the Black-faced Grassquit, and the Greater Antillean Bullfinch.

Whether you’re an expert at the “half frog”, “happy baby”, “one-legged king pigeon” or “wild thing” poses, or you have absolutely no idea what any of that means, yoga lessons should be on your list of things to do when visiting Elbow Cay. There are regularly scheduled group classes held at various venues on island, or you can schedule a private session at the location of your choosing.
SeaSpray happens to sit on a bluff overlooking one of the best surfing spots in all the Bahamas. Garbonzo Reef is known worldwide and can provide hours of fun on the waves. Located just feet from our Garbonzo Dockside Bar & Grill, the reef’s proximity and easy access to our property lets you get wet then get tipsy – It’s a SeaSpray thing!
Kite surfing is a growing sport, and a popular hobby on Elbow Cay. The prevailing winds and shallow water access combine to create an ideal environment to engage in this adrenaline packed experience. Instructors are available for individual lessons and will provide everything you need to catch some air and nail those lines!
